Olufisayo Odebode, also known as Fisayo Check, was born in Lagos on the 26th of April, 1988. Fisayo is an award-winning singer, songwriter and social entrepreneur who began singing and performing at a very tender age when she was a primary school student at Philomena; participating in music and cultural group performances.
At the age of 13, Fisayo found new life in Christ and began to lead worship as a high school student at Federal Government Girls’ College Ipetumodu. She later became a school band member and Public Relations Officer of the music club while serving as the Music Director in the School Chapel. As an undergraduate studying Education English at Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, during her Teaching Practice, she hosted her first Teens’ Summit to empower high school students across Ile-Ife in 2010, tagged, “The Global Changer.”
She has since partnered with Local Governments, Businesses, NGOs, Religious Organisations and Educational Institutions to host several Teens’ summits across different local communities in Nigeria. Fisayo also served with Christ Love Fellowship in the University first as Vice President of one of the outreach centres and thereafter as Music Director of the Fellowship.
Ultimately, Fisayo feels a call and mandate to raise foundations for generations, repair breaches and create global impact through her music, lifestyle and inspired ideas. Upon this, she founded Check House with a mission to promote self-reliance through empowerment programs, music business and other social innovations. Fisayo, the 2020 M.E.G.A (Award) vocalist of the year winner graduated with the highest honours from Bethel Music College Redding, California in 2021, and went on to finish top finalist and co-winner of the British Council’s Creative Enterprise Support Programme (Music) in 2022.
After many years of serving and working with notable Producers and Artists as a Background Vocalist, in 2016, Fisayo Check recorded and released her first single, titled “Made in Grace,” after which she released “Everyday Fresh” and “All Stars” both in 2018, and then her debut album in 2019, which was launched during her live music concert – tagged, “Makeover; The Grace Experience.” Fisayo currently works as a Worship Leader at Daystar Christian Centre, and she is set to launch her first book, titled, “Own Your Stuff; Your Practical Guide to Self-leadership” this fall.
